Want to experience Glacier lake? Visit Iceland

This is something which could only be seen from a very limited numbers of countries. Iceland is one of them and I was quite lucky to visit. It is simply mesmerising to see ghostly blue icebergs floating around you. Movie buffs can identify this for some Hollywood movies of James Bond or Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Batman Begins.

Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, which continuously melting down towards Atlantic ocean and swept back to beach. Floating , dancing icebergs in the gentle waves. This lake started forming during 1934 when the glacies started retreating

Where: The place is called #Jökulsárlón on the south east coast of Iceland. We did this tour in our South Iceland tour. It’s quite a long journey from Reykjavik towards Vik and then Diamond beach. Though we had stop in between, else it would have taken around 5 hours of drive from Reykjavik. Right beside the Ring Road between Höfn and Skaftafell what actually was our last destination of the day, was most exciting to experience. There is ample of parking space. Despite of reaching late we didn’t have any problem to park our mini coach.

This lake was reportedly deepest one in Iceland as declared in 2009, 248m in depth and covering across 18km-square. If you are lucky, you may get to see Seal resting on some iceberg. The best view you may get from the bridge.
